HECHT 553SW 51cm petrol mower with the proven HECHT OHV engine with a capacity of 173 cm 3 and a nominal power of 3.6 kW with a torque of 8.5 Nm / 2600 rpm -1 . The engine thus develops enough power both for mowing itself and for driving at a speed of approx. 3.6 km / h. The stable and solid metal chassis has a hole with a blanking plug for side ejection. The delivery also includes a side ejection cover, which allows you to mow the grass in the side ejection mode. Thanks to this, it is possible to mow even slightly overgrown grass without the mower being swallowed and the operator walking in the cut grass.
In normal mode, cut grass is collected in a 60 l textile basket. The basket is equipped with an aerodynamic flap for easy control of its filling level.
Stroke height is adjusted centrally, with a single lever on the left rear wheel ranging from 25 to 75 mm. The wheels are, of course, mounted on ball bearings.
Another alternative to mowing is so-called mulching. The mulching set, which is included in the price of the mower, blinds the ejection hole of the chassis into the basket and, thanks to the special construction of the knife, the grass is then slightly cut. These residues then fall to the roots of the lawn, where they rot and serve as a natural fertilizer. It is interesting that this mulch does not cover the grass with felt, on the contrary, it protects it from the loss of moisture, thus supporting its healthy growth.
The comfortable padded handle can be easily folded for storage or transport of the mower thanks to the quick release and is also height-adjustable. A powerful engine with a capacity of 173 cm 3 and a torque of 8.5 Nm / 2600 rpm -1 is needed to sufficiently ensure quality mowing, collection and travel. When choosing mowers with a width of 50 - 53 cm, pay attention to mowers with a weak engine 139 - 140 cm 3 and a torque of about 6 Nm / 2600 rpm, where the power and torque of the engine may be missing in taller or dense grass, and the mower does not reach the required power by far. Some manufacturers mask this handicap by not stating the actual contents of the engine.
